Paper 3 Question

I want to study the idea behind the awarding of prizes in contests, to learn about how winners are awarded and why certain winners are labelled as 'wrong' winners, because I want to learn how these decisions come about.

  1. Your idea is still very open and general. You need to refine it to something more manageable. Perhaps start with an example of a competition and a winner and the responses to the win. What was the balance of support as opposed to dissatisfaction with the win? What reasons were provided? How do these reasons fit in with the criteria of the competition? ETC.

  2. I want to find out what are the criteria used by judges as well as criteria used by the audience in selecting a winner. How different are they? Controversy often arises due to non-agreement of prizes awarded to winners from the judges and the audience. Does prize identity play an important role in the decision making of choosing a winner? Thus, I want to study the pattern behind awarding of prizes from TVB’s 44th Anniversary Awards in 2011.
